Just us Chickens

Went to check out "the girls" at my cousin Shirley's organic egg farm. They are really pretty birds. I liked the Rhode Island Reds the best . I came away with some yummy fresh eggs and the knowledge that I am too girly for chicken farming .

Birthday Girl

This was a get-together for Aunt Ann's 85th Birthday. We had fabulous desserts from Chez Lulu. Five year old Edie asked her if she was " the old one " ! Aunt Ann replied " I guess I am ' .

Race for the Cure 2010

This was my 6th race and still as wonderful as the first. Went with my sister and met up with friends and co-workers. Once again , we did not actually walk , but found something else for our "walk". This year it was the Southern Women's Show, last year Leonardo DiVinci at the art museum.

Day of the Dead

Toured Oak Hill Cemetery this morning. Almost any name associated with Birmingham's history is here. The "dead " told their stories as we walked on dusty paths and fallen leaves.

Sunday on the Lake

We went to the lake for my sister's Birthday yesterday. Since the Birthday Girl did not want her picture taken, this is what I came up with .

The Ghosts of Sloss

A beautiful sunny day, but you could still feel the imprint of the hard working men who made Birmingham what it is. Now the buildings are cool, dark and quiet, how different it must have been when this furnace was in production.

A cat by any other name .....

I was talking with a friend about all the alias'our animals go by . Here are some of Bob and Daisy's. Daisy, Dai-Dai, Kitty Girl, Bad Cat, Sweet Pea , The Kit. Bob ,Bob Cat ,Big Bob Boy, Bobaloo ,Sweet Boy. Hubby claims to have no part in this( he does). They do come to these names and don't seem to think they are silly. Bob and Daisy may have silly names for their humans for all I know. I don't know if we do this to "humanize " our pets or it's somthing we do for anyone that we love. Hence the term "pet name".

The Big Guy

He is such a great big lovable guy . He does charity work , such as agreeing to be lit up in pink for breast cancer awareness month . He does not mind people staring at him, because it is all for his city.... and he has a great butt !

Food for thought

For some strange reason, I really like to photograph food. Maybe it's because I like to eat or the fact that it easier to deal with than actual people. I don't know quite what that says about me ! Having spent my career dealing with people and their problems, I think I want subjects that don't talk back.

Snow in Alabama

I know it looks like cotton, but it is lovely. fluffy SNOW ! The Winter Wonderland did not last long , but was so beautiful while it lasted. I was brought up by a Mother who would wake you up at 4 am , if she saw so much as a snowflake. My midwestern Father did not really get it, but went along for the ride anyway.
